The first thing you notice about The Cosmos Rocks, the much anticipated 2008 album from Rock legends Queen + Paul Rodgers is "all tracks written by Queen and Paul Rodgers produced and performed by Brian May, Paul Rodgers and Roger Taylor" (indicating that between them they played all instruments, including bass - Paul and Brian swapping duties - in case you were going to ask). In 2005 Queen & Paul Rodgers undertook their first tour together, playing 32 sold out dates across Europe and the UK, ending with a spectacular and enthralling concert at London Hyde Park. Queen remains a right royal treat.

Queen + Paul Rodgers Talks. Brian May, 2008 Classic Rock Magazine. Our working title has been The Cosmos Rocks. Because it's such a fun album, we'll probably end up going with that. Roger Taylor, 2008 Classic Rock Magazine. In fact, this is probably the most rocking album Queen has made so far, though there are also some beautiful, laid-back blues moments. Whoever had a song on the day, that's what we recorded.
The news that Brian May and Roger Taylor were to record an album as Queen, with Free and Bad Company's Paul Rodgers on vocals, was met with consternation. As with a lot of The Cosmos Rocks, you listen to Warboys boggling that Queen - famously intelligent men - didn't at any point notice that the lyrics were stupid, trite, a bit offensive and bound to have an undermining effect on whatever musical efforts they put behind it. Maybe they're given to underestimating their audience, as indeed you might be if you'd watched 5m people worldwide flock to something as patently shoddy as We Will Rock You. Or maybe We Will Rock You's success has set new, grace-saving standards.

NotesCD seems to be genuine, full high quality artwork and label + the matrix for the Japanese CD. There's no OBI, but a slipcase containing lots of Asian characters. Might be a repackage of Japanese overstock for other Asian countries?
