A is the 13th studio album by Jethro Tull. It was released on 29 August 1980 in the UK and 1 September of the same year in the United States. The album was recorded in the summer of 1980 using Maison Rouge Mobile and Maison Rouge Studios in Fulham, London. Eddie Jobson guested on the album, playing keyboards and electric violin. The album was produced by Ian Anderson and Robin Black.

Benefit is the third album by the British rock band Jethro Tull, released in April 1970. It was the first Tull album to include pianist and organist John Evan – though he was not yet a permanent member of the group – and the last to include bass guitarist Glenn Cornick. It was recorded at the same studio of the previous album, but the band experimented with more advanced recording techniques.

A nice selection from each of their previous three studio albums, plus the real gem for m. .an intense performance of My God which was to come on the forthcoming Aqualung album. On display is why I am such a big fan of early Tull, bassist Glen Cornick. Listening to this live performance vs. the studio version on Aqualung sort of leaves the studio version lacking. This live album of Jethro Tull shows the recording sessions of their live performance on that musical event. Some other bands did the same thing. For instance, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and The Who released live albums, both with the same name too.

Jethro Tull's last album before 'Aqualung,' 'Benefit,' came out on April 20, 1970. Luckily, Tull’s visionary leader would duly show everyone the way on the following year’s Aqualung, after inviting his personal friend Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond into the fold as bassist and solving the labyrinth of his own daunting creativity.
