This is the original motion picture soundtrack to the British comic film, The Magic Christian, starring Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr and directed by Joseph McGrath. The score by Ken Thorne (who also did Help!) consists mostly of incidental music played under scenes in the movie and included here with dialogue, such as bump-and-grind music played along with a moment in the film in which Laurence Harvey plays the "To be or not to be" soliloquy in Hamlet as a strip routine.

Ringo is the third studio album by Ringo Starr, released in 1973 on Apple Records. It peaked at No. 7 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and has been certified platinum by the RIAA. In Canada, it reached No. 1 on the RPM national albums chart.

The sound is the same mono mix as always. It's great to have this film on Blu and in the proper aspect ratio, but I expected too much, I suppose. Olive Films has never done any clean up work on the Republic catalog titles, and I don't know why I expect that in this case. Joseph McGrath's 1969 black comedy The Magic Christian is definitely a product of its times. Never a big hit due largely to its episodic structure and mean spirited feel the film is it times quirky and at others distasteful. The screenplay was written by the team of McGrath,Peter Sellers and then satiric hero Terry Southern. Peter Sellers plays Guy Grand, the richest man in the world.

In 1970, EMI released Ringo’s first solo album, Sentimental Journey. It was exactly that: a record of the music he’d grown up with and which remained close to his heart. In 1968 he starred in Candy and in 1969 he co-starred opposite friend Peter Sellers in the critically acclaimed Magic Christian. In 1970 the documentary Let It Be was released, and in 1971 Ringo starred in Blindman. In 1974 he joined his best friend Harry Nilsson in The Son of Dracula, narrated Harry’s animated film The Point and appeared in Frank Zappa’s 200 Motels.
