The Doobie Brothers is the debut studio album by American rock band The Doobie Brothers. The album was released on April 30, 1971, by Warner Bros. It is their only official studio album to feature original bass player Dave Shogren on all tracks, who left during the recording of their second album. The first single from the album, "Nobody," failed to chart, as did the album itself

Farewell Tour is the first live album by American rock band The Doobie Brothers, released in 1983. It documents the group's 1982 Farewell Tour and is a double album set. By the early 1980s, the Doobie Brothers had evolved from the guitar-boogie sound under original band frontman Tom Johnston to a soulful keyboard-driven AOR sound under Michael McDonald. Despite the many personnel changes in the group, Patrick Simmons remained from the original incarnation of the group.

The Doobie Brothers recorded it first, with McDonald changing the line "I'd always be your girl" to "always be the on. A year later, Simon released her version on the album Boys in the Trees, with her then-husband James Taylor singing backup vocals. Simon's version was the hit, going to in the US. In 1983 the Doobies did a live version on their album Farewell Tour, which was their last album before splitting up. The band did reform in 1988. Anita Baker and Jennifer Lopez have both recorded this song, and McDonald mentioned Lopez' version during his 2004. I'm not even a huge Doobie Brother fan but being that I grew up in the 70's I just had to have some of their music because they were such a huge part of the musical landscape. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
