A Coliseum Complex Museum is the fifth studio album by the Canadian psychedelic rock band The Besnard Lakes, released on January 22, 2016 on Jagjaguwar. The album is the first to feature keyboardist Sheenah Ko and guitarist Robbie MacArthur, who both joined the band in 2014 to tour behind the band's previous album, Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO (2013). The album was preceded by the EP, Golden Lion, which features two additional tracks recorded during the album's sessions.

Although the album is compact and concise, The Besnard Lakes recently became a seventeen-piece band at Pop Montrea. .how did that come about? We’d been planning on playing with a huge band for nearly two years; UFO was a really hard record to play live. A Coliseum Complex Museum is out 22nd January on Jagjaguwar. The band plays two dates in Brighton and London in November.

So A Coliseum Complex Museum is the band’s nature album, but mostly it’s another Besnard Lakes album, and more or less a mirror of 2013’s Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO, right down to its refrigerator magnet poetry title, glimmering guitars, and Floydian ambitions. The Bray Road Beast" wastes no time channeling Dark Side of the Moon, with a star-gazing guitar line traced from " Eclipse," while "Pressure of Our Plans" and "Towers Sent Her to Sheets of Sound" each culminate in a thicket of swirling psychedelia. The album lightens somewhat in its second half, as Goreas takes on a greater role vocally. Her game spotlight turn on the slick, unusually groove-oriented "The Plain Moon" is the closest Coliseum comes to matching the hooky rush of Until in Excess ’ standout " People of the Sticks.
