Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 1, called the "Spring Symphony" and Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 3 can be heard on this CD in a recording with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks conducted by Mariss Jansons. The live recordings are from 2018 (Schumann) and 2015 (Schubert). Leonard Bernstein's half-staged interpretation of "Tristan und Isolde" with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra has long been regarded as a reference recording. Experience it for the first time on DVD with Peter Hofmann, Hildegard Behrens and Yvonne Minton.

The Symphony No. 4 in D minor, Op. 120, composed by Robert Schumann, was first completed in 1841. Schumann heavily revised the symphony in 1851, and it was this version that reached publication.
