2 is the debut full-length studio album by Canadian musician Mac DeMarco. It was recorded in June and released in October 2012 on the Captured Tracks label. DeMarco moved from Vancouver to Montreal in 2011. There, he recorded an EP under his own name, Rock and Roll Nightclub. I have a theory that the pretense and austerity of the indie scene in the mid 00's and onward gave rise to a rebellion in taste that led to relatively tactless, sleazy and comic personalities like DeMarco taking the spotlight. This album is better than the battle of Hoth, and orgasms.

Both the pressing and mastering are like the best of both worlds from his later albums with low surface noise and really vibrant instruments. On a more subjective level the lyrics and songs might be on a simpler level compared to his later works but there are still kick ass tunes that make it just as enjoyable as the rest.
