J Church was an American punk rock band formed by the guitarist and vocalist Lance Hahn and the bass guitarist Gardner Maxam in 1992 in San Francisco, California, after the demise of their former band, Cringer. The group continued through numerous line-up changes and released a number of vinyl records and CDs before Hahn's death in 2007. The band was named for the San Francisco Muni Metro J Church line that Hahn took down Church Street to band practice and to work every day. They went through a large number of drummers in their career; a noteworthy early player was the former Jawbreaker drummer Adam Pfahler. 1997: The Ecstasy of Communication. 2004: Seishun Zankoku Monogatari. a b c J Church Biography at j-church. This song is by J Church and appears on the album Cat Food (1998) and on the compilation album Meaty, Beaty, Shitty Sounding (2001). The city streets are empty nowThe lights don't shine no moreAnd so the songs are way down lowI'm turning, I'm turning, I'm turningA sound that flows into my mindThe echoes of the daylightOf everything that is aliveIn my blue world. I turn to stone when you are goneI turn to stoneTurn to stone when you're comin' homeI can't go on.
Lady Supermarket with an apple in her basket Knocks on the manager's door Grooning to the muzak from a speaker in the shoe rack Lays out her goods on the floor Everything she's chosen is conveniently frozen "Eat it and come back for more!" Lady Window-Shopper with a new one in the hopper Whips up a chemical brew Croaking to a neighbour while she polishes a sabre Knows how to flavour a stew Never need to worry with a tin of 'Hurri Curri': "Poisoned especially for you!" No use to complain If you're caught.
