Live/Dead is the first official live album released by the rock band Grateful Dead. Recorded over a series of concerts in early 1969 and released later the same year, it was the first live rock album to use 16-track recording.

This is the Dead's first live album release and their best. Released in 1969, this album was meant to capture the energy of The Grateful Dead onstage, which is truly amazing. This album features some dead classics such as "Dark Star", "St. Stephen", and their fabulous cover of "Turn On Your Love Light". In my opinion the only other Grateful Dead Live album that rivals this one is Skull & Roses

The Grateful Dead's fourth title was likewise their first extended concert recording. Spread over two LPs, Live/Dead (1969) finally was able to relay the intrinsic sonic magnificence of a Dead show in real time. Additionally, it unleashed several key entries into their repertoire, including the sidelong epic and Deadhead anthem"Dark Star" as well as wailing and otherwise electrified acidic covers of the Rev. Gary Davis blues standard "Death Don't Have No Mercy" and the R&B rave-up "(Turn on Your) Lovelight

Reckoning (Grateful Dead album). Reckoning is a 1981 live double album by the Grateful Dead. It consists of acoustic material recorded live in September and October 1980. Some of the tracks are shortened versions of the live performances.

I originally bought this album on vinyl back in the 70s. The original vinyl release was a two-album set, which had some awkward breaks at the ends of each side of the record. It was tough to get any real continuity when you had to turn over the record every 20 minutes or so.
