The Grateful Dead released 'Shakedown Street,' an album derisively described as disco Dead, on Nov. 15, 1978. Listen to the Grateful Dead's 'Shakedown Street'. In some cases, George worked as a de facto collaborator – up to, and including, joining them in their illicit drugs of choice – as sessions continued in a far more organic space. The Grateful Dead rented a warehouse in San Rafael, Calif. to work through song ideas.

Shakedown Street is found on the album Shakedown Street. Nothin' shakin' on shakedown street, used to be the heart of town Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart, you just gotta poke around. You think you've seen this town clear through (well, well, well, you can never tell) Nothin' here that could int'rest you (well, well, well, you can never tell) It's not because you missed out on the thing that we had to start

I think 'Shakedown Street' is a fine album. If this had been a, let's just say, Fleetwood Mac album, it would have garnered universal praise. But because it is the Grateful Dead and it does not have that "live" feel to it, Deadheads and critics are often very quick to write this album off as useless

Lyrics to "Shakedown Street" song by Grateful Dead: You tell me this town ain't got no heart. Well, well, well, you can never tell  . You tell me this town ain't got no heart. The sunny side of the street is dark. Maybe that's cause it's midnight, in the dark of the moon besides. Maybe the dark is from your eyes, Maybe the dark is from your eyes, Maybe the dark is from your eyes, Maybe the dark is from your eyes, Maybe the dark is from your eyes, Maybe the dark is from your eyes, You know you got such dark eyes! Nothin' shakin' on Shakedown Street. Used to be the heart of town
