Old school death metallers Memoriam, founded in January 2016 by Karl Willetts (Bolt Thrower) and Frank Healy (Benediction), unleashed their debut album, For The Fallen, on March 24th. While their debut album "For The Fallen" (2017) was heavy, depressing, and marked by grief, the second work "The Silent Vigil" (2018) showed a relentlessly aggressive side. This also applies to the third and latest string to their bow "Requiem For Mankind. So says vocalist Karl Willets, he of Bolt Thrower fame, of his new band’s positive modus operandi. Karl, along with his old scene pal, Benediction bassist Frank Healy, started Memoriam as a means to process their grief following the respective deaths of Bolt Thrower drummer Martin ‘Kiddie’ Kearns and Frank’s father. Both men wasted no time talking ex-Bolt Thrower drummer Andy Whale out of retirement for his first studio recording since 1994’s death metal classi. or Victory, and rounded out the lineup by recruiting a relatively unknown riffmaster, Scott Fairfax.

The crown jewel of MEMORIAM’s achievement is, of course, their debut album, "For the fallen". It has a massive yet underground sound - somewhere between yet beyond "Transcend the Rubicon" and "The IVth crusade". To find closure and peace of mind. To express the sadness and get it out in the open. The formation of MEMORIAM and the music we created was the vehicle for me.
