Rubycon is the sixth studio album by German electronic music group Tangerine Dream, released in 1975. It is widely regarded as one of their best albums. Rubycon further develops the Berlin School sequencer-based sound they ushered in with the title track from Phaedra. Although not quite matching the sales figures for Phaedra, Rubycon reached number 10 in a 14-week run, their highest-charting album in the UK.

Klaus Schulze influenced this. Tangerine Dreams best album. been lucky enough to inherit my parents almost endless knowledge of music, i first stumbled across Tangerine Dream as a very young boy, it kind of reminds me of some of the later Future Sound of London, environments part 2 especially.

Recently purchased ( 2 ) Tangerine Dream Vinyl LPs "Rubycon" and "Phaedra". The LPs have been remastered and the original cover art work has been reproduced flawlessly. The sound quality on both albums is nothing short of amazing sound quality on the CDs was absolutely terrible. In that sense Rubycon could be considered a perfect middle of the road album of the golden decade of Tangerine Dream. Rubycon is one huge texture of sound consisting of interchanging ambient and rhythmic segments. This album is a perfect variation on a theme by three gifted and well connected players who introduce their ideas and elaborate on them in various ways. The beginning and closing minutes feel very classical in the way the composition is constructed with every key pressed as needed, to create this amazing mood.
