Living in a small town can sometimes feel like high school never ends. There's cool kids and outsiders. It seems like there's always a few big names that run the town and if you're not with them then it's as if you're beneath them. 9. We always come together as a community. Hands down the best thing about small town life. Everyone's so close-knit and when something terrible happens to one of us, it happens to all of us. In my little town there's been a few people diagnosed with cancer in the past couple of years. You can take a quiet walk around the block and relax out on your front porch without being disturbed.

In a small town, people usually have their own business or their own agricultural development. Life is very peaceful in a small town compared to the big city. People are always free to help each other. In a big city, life is very busy. There may be businesses hiring like grocery stores, gas stations and fast food chains. In a big city, you can get lots of job opportunities. There are also job opportunities that have special training and higher education, creating a chance for higher wages and more promotions such as headquarters for corporations Continue Reading.

Small town living may not be for everyone, but for many who have grown up with it, there's no better life. The city may have lots of opportunities and excitement, but small town life is far superior in a myriad of ways. Here are 10 reasons why living in a small town is better. 10. There is less crime. Living in a small town means, statistically, that there will be less crime. Crime doesn't disappear altogether, especially if your small town is on the outskirts of a large city, but there is a lot less of a chance that you'll be the victim of a crime  . Small town life means small commutes, no sitting in traffic, and no road rage. You don't go flipping the bird to someone because, most likely, you know the person behind the wheel. 8. There are more opportunities for community involvement. Flickr/Nicolas Henderson. It's a lot easier to get civically involved in a small town.

In a small town everybody seems to know each other. Strangers smile at you when you pass them in public. It also seems like people in small towns are more willing to reach out and help you when you are in need. Cities seem to have a lot of crime and in small towns crime is very low. You don't have to worry about locking doors or closing windows and you are less likely to get mugged or robbed. Children are also safe walking to school alone or playing outside with little or no supervision. Traffic is another great thing about living in a small town. It takes less time to drive from one end.

I grew up in a small town and have now moved to a city, so I can say I have experienced the living qualities in both. I thought I would love living in the city being able to explore the greatness of it and always having something to do, places to go and never want to go back to living in a small town, but now I find that I look back with a new and different perspective and I appreciate it a lot more. That’s what I like about living in small towns, which is why I think my perfect living situation would be a smaller town close to a big city so that when I want I can enjoy the best of both worlds. Have the intimacy and the closeness, the friendships and sense of belonging to a community that you have in a small town and the ability to go into the city and make the most of all that it has to offer.
