Berlin-based contemporary composer Nils Frahm has built a steady reputation for his intimate, poignant piano recordings, yet they so far only showed a fragment of what to expect from a Nils Frahm concert. Frahm’s heart lies in improvisation, in the magic of a moment where, inspired by the space and the audience, his fingers can create new compositions loosely based around his familiar melodies. Loon by Ólafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm. supported by 9 fans who also own Juno.
Format: All Vinyl CD DJ Equipment Studio Equipment. His first release of 2016 is something of a curveball, featuring as it does new remixes of tracks from his 2012 full-length, Screws, an album that the artist says was inspired by "fans and friends". Fittingly, Screws Reworked not only contains Frahm's original album - a heartfelt, poignant collection of evocative piano compositions - but also a new disc of interpretations submitted by fans.
Felt is a 2011 album by German composer Nils Frahm. It was released on 7 October 2011 on Erased Tapes records. The name of the record refers to Nils placing felt on the strings of his piano, initially to dampen the sound to enable nighttime playing and later as he liked the sound it produced. The album was also recorded with the microphones deep within the piano which was seen to provide a more intimate sound.
Nils Frahm had an early introduction to music, learning the piano throughout his childhood. It was through this that Nils began to immerse himself in the styles of classical pianists from previous generations as well as the music of contemporary composers, before forging his own musical path through composition. Felt was followed by his solo synthesiser EP Juno and Wonders - a record by Oliveray, his duo project with long-time musical companion Peter Broderick. Nils then recorded the 2012 works Screws while recovering from a thumb injury, which he gifted to his fans on his birthday. 2013 saw Nils return with his new album Spaces to critical acclaim, expressing his love for experimentation and answering the call from his fans for a record that truly reflects what they have witnessed during his live shows.

Notes
This session was recorded in just one night sometime in the beginning of 2010. Peter Broderick loved the sound of this synthesiser so much, he asked me to record some solo sketches with it. This is what I came up with. I didn't use any overdubs or punch-ins. See it as a synthesiser solo performance.℗ & © 2011 Erased Tapes Records Ltd.
