The First Day is the first of three collaborations between British musicians David Sylvian and Robert Fripp. It was released in July 1993 and the aggressive rock style was something of a departure from David Sylvian’s usual work. After scattered collaborations from the late 1980s, Fripp had asked Sylvian to join a new version of progressive rock stalwarts King Crimson, then on hiatus

The First Day" is the debut collaborative full-length studio album by UK experimental pop/rock artists David Sylvian (Japan and solo) and Robert Fripp (King Crimson). The album was released through Virgin Records in July 1993. The music on the album mix David Sylvianīs experimental, atmosperic and ambient pop/rock with Robert Frippīs experimental guitar playing and on paper that sounds pretty intriguing. Some parts of the album fully meet my expectations while other parts of the album donīt impress me much

Robert Fripp and David Sylvian's first official release together, The First Day, is a much funkier and more percussive affair than its bootleg predecessor, The Day Before (which contained radically different versions of these songs). An obvious reason for its higher quality is that it was recorded in a studio, while the bootleg consisted of in-concert demos, and the songs here have been worked to completion. Fripp has found an extremely talented singer/partner in Sylvian, who adds a lot to his quirky compositions

Manufactured as a standard Jewel case with twelve-page booklet.

David Sylvian's 2003 solo album, his first since Dead Bees On a Cake. It was the debut release for his own Samadhi Sound label. David set aside a month to write and record the album while taking a break from the project that he and his brother, Steve Jansen, are currently working on. He has created an impromptu suite of songs for guitar, electronics and voice. The compositions were crafted from improvisational sessions captured live in the studio. This followed the release of the album The First Day and is considered by many to be superior to its studio counterpart. Originally mixed by Robert Fripp and released in September 1994 it was remixed by David in 2000 and released the following year. The band features Trey Gunn and Michael Brook. The LP sounds very nice. Well worth the price of admission.

I had the same thought yesterday as well. They could also sort out the running order (Bringing Down The Light shouldn't go in the middle) and perhaps make a triple to add the great B sides to the Jean the Birdman single. BMG did Dead Bees for RSD this year and so they could well do TFD for a RSD in the future ….

When will be a remastered LP? The original one's prices flying higher and higher
Malojurus
No remaster needed. This LP album sounds amazing! Very dynamic!

This needs a remaster!

It will unfortunately never happen. Pretty sure both Fripp and Sylvian left this project not wanting to work together ever again.
